If you frequently ship items for your business, you need to consider having custom shipping boxes made, as these can save you money on shipping and even keep items safer while in transit. Note a few features you might consider for those custom boxes, and how they can be so beneficial.

Warnings

Warning or instruction labels about proper handling are good to use when shipping items, and may even be legally required for certain products. However, having custom boxes or cartons made with warnings and instructions stamped right on the front and sides can reduce the risk of someone forgetting to add those labels, and no risk of those labels coming off while the package is in transit; this will mean added protection against something being damaged during shipment. You might even print a recyclable logo on the boxes, to encourage end users to recycle that packaging rather than just toss it in the rubbish bin.

You might also print warnings on the boxes for end customers and users, rather than relying on them to read warnings you enclose with the shipment. This might be warnings about proper storage of perishable items, that the items inside are not meant for human consumption, and the like.

Presentation and branding

Custom printed boxes can mean more branding for your business; having your logo and website visible on boxes can mean that dozens of people see that graphic before a product reaches your customer! Presentation can also be very important for some products; bakery boxes are often opened in front of guests and partygoers, as are boxes for flowers and other gifts. Your shipping boxes may also be used as display for retail stores or resellers, so having them made to look as attractive as possible can be a nice touch that your customers appreciate.

Shipping costs

To protect fragile items during shipment, you may use a thick wood carton or very thick cardboard box, with inserts for individual items. This can keep those items protected, but the heavier the box or carton, the more your shipping costs. Custom boxes can be made just as thick and strong as needed, with inserts and compartments that are also just as durable as needed, without being overly heavy. This can reduce shipping costs and the amount of filler you need for the boxes; not only might you then save money on shipping and supplies, but you can also save on the time otherwise spent filling up those boxes with Styrofoam peanuts and bubble wrap.
